For our client, a start-up based in Barcelona (Spain), that has created a vertical search engine for Real Estate, we are currently recruiting a Back End Java J2EE Developer. Already profitable, they are online since September 2008. They have received several awards and have recently closed a round of financing to support our growth. Active in 12 different markets, new verticals and regions are to come. Our client has a young and international team (9 nationalities), and their working language is English.

WHAT ARE THEY LOOKING FOR:
You have been working for more than 2 years on commercial Java serverside development, you have worked with large multithreaded applications and have a good understanding of XML specification. Ideally, you have experience with the Spring framework. You have been working with Databases as a developer, and have a strong knowledge of SQL (any database with a good implementation of the SQL92 specification will work). Ideally you have an experience working with NoSQL database or indexing engines like Lucene or Solr. If you have knowledge of Groovy or any dynamic language for that matter – it is a plus! And most of all, you have passion for Java development. Overall geekness is a strong plus. Also UE work permit is a must!

WHAT WOULD YOU BE DOING:
You would be part of the back-end team, where you will be working with the product managers and commercial people, as well as with all the other techies, working on the crawler engine which is behind the website. Also, you will be fixing bugs, writing tests for your code, writing some scripts, … You will be spending your time mostly with Java, SQL and scripting languages… At all times, you will be working with a high degree of independence and responsibility.
